Bus A/C Compressors
The compressor does the heavy lifting in a bus A/C system, and on a bus it works harder than in any car — bigger cabin, longer idle time, higher head pressures. We stock the compressor families found on most school and shuttle buses: the TM series (TM13 through TM31) used across Trans/Air and MCC installs, plus clutches, coils, gaskets, and mounting hardware.
Not sure which compressor you have? The model is stamped on the compressor body tag. If the tag is gone, call 518-762-6267 with the bus make and system brand and we'll identify it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which TM compressor my bus has?
Check the metal tag on the compressor body — it lists the model (for example TM16HD) and serial. If the tag is unreadable, count the cylinder heads and measure the body, or call us with your bus make, model year, and system brand (Trans/Air, MCC, Carrier) and we'll match it.
Should I replace the drier when I replace a compressor?
Yes, every time. A failed compressor sends debris and moisture-saturated oil through the system. Installing a new compressor without a new receiver-drier (and a system flush) is the most common cause of repeat failure, and most warranties require it.
Do you sell just the clutch, or do I need the whole compressor?
Both. If the compressor pumps fine and only the clutch is burned, a clutch and coil kit saves real money. If the compressor has metal in the oil or seized, replace the assembly.
